Michael Buerk is a famous British newsreader and war-journalist who participated in the fourteenth season of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! UK, entering the jungle on Day 1 and finishing up in 8th Place on 3rd December, 2014.

Background

Michael was born 18th February 1946, Solihull, Warwickshire. Initially Michael had expressed interest in joining the Royal Air Force, being a member of the Combined Cadet Force at his school in Solihull, but his hopes of joining the air-force were dashed when he failed the entry test.

Michael started his career in journalism, writing for the Bromsgrove Messenger, as well as the South Wales Echo and the Daily Mail, before joining Radio Bristol in 1970 and consequently becoming a reporter for the BBC in 1973.

Buerk acted as the BBC news correspondent for Africa during the dying years of apartheid. After being booted out of Africa for his reports on the brutalities of the regime, he went onto to be an anchor for the BBC Nine o'clock News and the BBC News at Ten. Michael's other works involve a variety of presenting and narration roles in various shows. In 2014, Michael took part in the fourteenth season of I'm a Celebrity UK, where he finished in 8th Place on 3rd December,2014.
